LOVE IS LOVES’ RETURN

HOMEWORK:FIND YOUR PASSION
For me it’s helping other people. It’s creating community around a purpose that’s worthwhile. It’s helping people live in ways that bring life and fulfillment.
What are you passionate about? What fills your dreams?
Design?
Film?
Business?
Fundraising?
Advocacy?
Politics?
Organizing?
Writing?
Web?
Sales?
Healthcare?
People?
Children?
Whatever your passion, I want you involved with what I’m doing. I want you next to me in the journey. And if you’re in, here’s your homework: find your passion. I’ll figure out how you fit in the mix. And believe me, you’ll fit. A community of people. A singular mission. It’s about helping. It’s about love.

FOUNDATION:PROGRESS
I wrote up a rough draft. 3 years out. I don’t know if I’ve ever planned that far in advance. College doesn’t count. Sic’ em. Anyways. Here’s my first pass at the mission and vision.
MISSION STATEMENT:To end the sexual exploitation of the poor.
VISION STATEMENT:To educate and empower individuals in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to take action against the sexual exploitation of women and children in our local and global communities by hosting events and partnering with other organizations to build a network of support.
I’m meeting with a handful of people this coming Tuesday to talk through these and other ideas. As always, thoughts are welcome.

BAR GIRLS IN NANA PLAZA
This past summer I visited Thailand for two weeks to learn more about child prostitution and the sexual exploitation of the poor. My heart broke. While in Bangkok, we learned about an NGO (Non Governmental Organization) that worked with bar girls (read: prostitutes) in Nana Plaza. I fell in love with the people and the work they are doing. This article is a great snapshot of The Home of New Beginnings.

LOVE AS LAW
I want to start a foundation. I think. I haven’t fully fleshed this out, but I need to start somewhere. Changing the website seemed to be the best way to take a step, however small, towards moving forward. I don’t know what I am doing, but I’m moving forward anyways.
The focus will be on educating and empowering individuals in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex to take action, however large or small, to help end sex slavery and child prostitution both locally and globally. I’m in the middle of drawing up the initial 5 year plan. It’s due one week from today.
I’m afraid to go at this alone, and I would love for you to be a part, however large or small. Please join me.
The name of the foundation will be Love As Law. I think. Updates to follow.
Michael. For us all.
